In celebration of National Fire Prevention Week, a crew from the Humboldt Fire Department visited Humboldt Elementary this morning to review fire prevention and other safety practices in school and at home. Students were excited to sit inside the Smoke House and to learn the ins and outs of the firetruck. Spoiler alert - students will be coming home today to talk about a fire escape plan and changing batteries in the smoke detectors. Thank you, Humboldt Fire Department, for educating our students on the importance of fire safety!

Homecoming is this Friday. Students are dismissed at 1:30. We will follow our usual 1:30 schedule on Friday. Middle school students will not attend the pep rally at 9:00. The parade starts at 2:30.

Students are required to attend all classes that day and stay until the end of the day. The buses will run on the 1:30 dismissal schedule. The only way students are excused from school prior to the end of the day is if they are picked up by a parent or an adult designated by a parent. This provision also applies to students who are participating in the parade with non-school sponsored activities(i.e. 4H, rodeo, junior football). Notes, emails or calls can be directed to Kathy Lutter if you intend to have someone pick up students prior to 1:30. Please contact Kathy by the end of day Thursday, October 9. The middle school number is: 528-3799. Kathy's email is: katherine.lutter@k12.sd.us.

Hartford Elementary students joined in the fun of Homecoming Week with some very special visitors on the playground this morning! Between the football action and the cheers ringing across the yard, it was hard to tell who was having more fun. We love celebrating our schools alongside the older Trojans. A huge thank you to the football and cheerleading teams for spending time with our kids today—it truly was a highlight for everyone!

🎉 Let’s hear it for Hartford Elementary’s Terrific Trojan winners for the month of September! 🎉

Throughout the month, students can be awarded a Terrific Trojan for consistently going above and beyond in being responsible, respectful, and safe. Each time a student earns this recognition, their name goes into a drawing for a special monthly reward! This month, we had a donut picnic on the playground!

Way to go, Terrific Trojans! 💙💛
